journal 15

This is by far one of my favorite product designs that I own. It is very unique as a whole package. The way it not only pulls an iconic object from the movie, but it also holds all the dvds and lights up. When I went to go buy the dvds I found the design so captivating that I paid the few extra dollars to upgrade from the box case. When I got it in the mail I was surprised that they put so much detail not only into the case, but really went out of their way to make every disk different, but still match the 'Tron' concept. I think it was really worth it because it's not like anything else I own. They did really well making it a decent size and weight, as well as making it light up and be able to be displayed on a shelf and not just tucked away

I don't think it's a bad thing if it's used correctly, like comic sans. I don't want to see it everywhere, but I don't mind seeing it in places it fits, and not too much of it either. It can work as a header or a title, but not for a whole paragraph.

I actually don't mind it being used here, in fact I didn't even notice it until a friend brought it up when we were looking at dvds. For the movie I think it works well, and it's ironic that he could have gotten a huge amazing logo designed for the movie, but the logograph really works well on it's own being as simple as it is. It gives off that earthy feel which they focus so heavily on in the movie.

The text in general is very minimal, and the hand written part is even less. It works with the ad because it is supposed to be a relaxed cartoon. What it's selling is a really weird cartoon with an odd sense of humor. It's not normal, but it's not like bevis and buttheaad though. It's just a woodpecker and a raccoon doing regular day things, but their regular day isn't always that regular. I think it is effective because the handwritten type is something we're all used to in an average day, but the image of a raccoon riding a lawn mower being pushed by a woodpecker is anything but regular.

The ad is where a doctor is conducting his research on the patient in his home bathroom. The connotative value is that the doctor caters to your needs and pays you special attention to get to know what exactly is wrong with you. What is denotative is that it is a doctor collecting data on a patient in his home as he does his personal business. I think that it doesn't work because it's a little creepy. It's too close for comfort and honestly I wouldn't want my doctor taking notes as I peed. I think it's just trying to say that the doctors are personal, and don't skip corners and collect all the information that is needed, although the ad sorta backfired.

Physically the only thing going on in this ad is a couple of cigarettes cut up. Metaphorically they are cut up and placed next to each other to look like a shotgun ready to be loaded. I think it is effective because it shows the relation between how smoking can kill your body, just like shooting yourself in the head would. Honestly I'm pretty sure the lung association's message is loud and clear

I think they use this color choice to give off a warm and friendly vibe. It portrays that they are open and friendly to their clients, while still being professional. The kind of color harmony they use in this logo is analogous, with the pink and the orange being spaced out about the same on the color wheel.
They use these color choices to try and 'dress up' the image of clam meat. I think the only meaning it has is that it i more vibrant and appealing to the eye than grey. It may elude to royalty and that the clam meat is high class. This logo utilizes monochromatic colors for it's color harmony, as to keep a clean and non cluttered image.
They used these colors for a traditional Indian color scheme, for an Indian restaurant. The meaning they have is that while they want to come off as fun and modern, they want to stick to their Indian roots and portray classic Indian food in a good light. The type of harmony they use is a triadic color scheme.
