This is by far one of my favorite product designs that I own. It is very unique as a whole package. The way it not only pulls an iconic object from the movie, but it also holds all the dvds and lights up. When I went to go buy the dvds I found the design so captivating that I paid the few extra dollars to upgrade from the box case. When I got it in the mail I was surprised that they put so much detail not only into the case, but really went out of their way to make every disk different, but still match the 'Tron' concept. I think it was really worth it because it's not like anything else I own. They did really well making it a decent size and weight, as well as making it light up and be able to be displayed on a shelf and not just tucked away

I don't think it's a bad thing if it's used correctly, like comic sans. I don't want to see it everywhere, but I don't mind seeing it in places it fits, and not too much of it either. It can work as a header or a title, but not for a whole paragraph.
I actually don't mind it being used here, in fact I didn't even notice it until a friend brought it up when we were looking at dvds. For the movie I think it works well, and it's ironic that he could have gotten a huge amazing logo designed for the movie, but the logograph really works well on it's own being as simple as it is. It gives off that earthy feel which they focus so heavily on in the movie.

The text in general is very minimal, and the hand written part is even less. It works with the ad because it is supposed to be a relaxed cartoon. What it's selling is a really weird cartoon with an odd sense of humor. It's not normal, but it's not like bevis and buttheaad though. It's just a woodpecker and a raccoon doing regular day things, but their regular day isn't always that regular. I think it is effective because the handwritten type is something we're all used to in an average day, but the image of a raccoon riding a lawn mower being pushed by a woodpecker is anything but regular.

The ad is where a doctor is conducting his research on the patient in his home bathroom. The connotative value is that the doctor caters to your needs and pays you special attention to get to know what exactly is wrong with you. What is denotative is that it is a doctor collecting data on a patient in his home as he does his personal business. I think that it doesn't work because it's a little creepy. It's too close for comfort and honestly I wouldn't want my doctor taking notes as I peed. I think it's just trying to say that the doctors are personal, and don't skip corners and collect all the information that is needed, although the ad sorta backfired.

Physically the only thing going on in this ad is a couple of cigarettes cut up. Metaphorically they are cut up and placed next to each other to look like a shotgun ready to be loaded. I think it is effective because it shows the relation between how smoking can kill your body, just like shooting yourself in the head would. Honestly I'm pretty sure the lung association's message is loud and clear

I think they use this color choice to give off a warm and friendly vibe. It portrays that they are open and friendly to their clients, while still being professional. The kind of color harmony they use in this logo is analogous, with the pink and the orange being spaced out about the same on the color wheel.
They use these color choices to try and 'dress up' the image of clam meat. I think the only meaning it has is that it i more vibrant and appealing to the eye than grey. It may elude to royalty and that the clam meat is high class. This logo utilizes monochromatic colors for it's color harmony, as to keep a clean and non cluttered image.
They used these colors for a traditional Indian color scheme, for an Indian restaurant. The meaning they have is that while they want to come off as fun and modern, they want to stick to their Indian roots and portray classic Indian food in a good light. The type of harmony they use is a triadic color scheme.

I chose the top image because when I think of anger the first thing that comes to mind is a fight. I only fight because something angers or offends me, and would never fight just for fun. I chose the images of eyes with slanted eyebrows to show that not all anger is physical. It can be an internal thing that you don't even need to say or do a thing to communicate. The last image I chose because while anger is real, it can be a kind to not be taken seriously, like when our favorite show is canceled or someone messes up. It's not going to be the end of the world and you may take it seriously at the time but later you'll look at it and wonder 'wow why did I get mad over something like that?'
for sadness I picked images of that showed separation and hurt. Being alone or loosing someone close to me seems like the worst kind of sadness because it's a deep emotional pain. You don't just get someone back over night and the feeling of them being there for you is like no other.
on the flip side for happiness I always associate it with friends and genuine smiles, something that you can't fake but yet you can tell are pure and the person is truly enjoying themselves. I included pictures of not just friends, but sibling too, because both are family and are always there for you.
When I think of being uninspired, I think of not wanting to do anything, at least for me. I associate being uninspired with being bored. These images show people literally being boards, but to me it also speaks as having no motivation to to anything.
Being scared is something that is hard to show through an image. I chose the image on the top left because it literally showed fear. It shows the object inflecting fear and the reaction of someone directly being afraid of what is attacking them. The image on the top right may not directly show fear in their eyes, but may inflict fear into ours as well. Normally coming across a zombie might be a pretty scary thing, but with the image I chose I wanted to show what usually scares use pausing, not comprehending what i in front of them, and just maybe showing what they would consider fear. for the bottom two images I picked to show more of an internal battle with fear. Where someone reverts, or shrinks back when they are scared, gripping themselves or something to try and get a hold back on and not be so scared of what is hurting them

When I started working on my new symbols I found it a bit of a challenge because I don’t believe in stereotyping genders and gender roles in society. So when I approached working on symbols for the upper class that was classy but still not too bias I had a unique challenge upon me. I started with the symbol of the man and women, wanting to emphasize how upper class people have a different air about them. I emphasized their clothes and silhouettes, because when we run into important CEOs they hold how they look and come off to clients in high importance. I them moved on to the fire extinguisher and wanted to give it a more action based image than the one in existence to show how to use it. I didn’t want the blocky bright colors because I felt it was overwhelming and instead excluded color from the main object, so when you looked at it your eyes you move from the fire to the water to the object you would use to put it out, like in real life. The washroom was difficult because I had already worked on the gender segregated signs. When I thought about it there were places where people went to just clean themselves up and primp up. So I created a clean symmetrical symbol that communicated ‘washing’ and cleaning up.
When I worked on the next designs I kept the idea of balance in my mind, and tried to use asymmetrical balance to my advantage and make a more detailed but still simple and interesting icon. I played with how an image would flow when I worked on my icon for the janitor and exit. I wasn’t really pleased with the colors I picked for my exit sign because even though they were contrasting, they just clashed and didn’t seem to work well with each other at all.
Lastly the car was an interesting thing to work on because it did need to show upper class and still be simple. So from there I attempted to draw a sports car in a parking spot, the most basic of images, and relaying more than a simple picture of a car, so it would not be confused with a car rental company.
